Laura Mixon Camacho

President

Laura Mixon Camacho, PhD, is the owner of Mixonian Institute, a public speaking and executive coaching firm dedicated to Excellence in Leadership communication. She was recently honored to be among the leading women in business according to the Moultrie News. She holds a PhD in Communication Studies from Regent University, an MBA from the University of Dallas and a BA from Sweet Briar College. She opened Mixonian Institute after 12 years of teaching at East Carolina University and College of Charleston. Early in her career, she was a facilitator for the Stephen Covey Group and owner/editor of the bilingual newsletter, Management Perspective, in Caracas, Venezuela. She lives in Mt. Pleasant with her husband, two daughters and toy poodle. Her son is a senior at East Carolina University and her step-daughter lives in Paris.

Phyllis Sheffer

President of the Board Emeritus

Phyllis Sheffer is currently the owner of Phylli Phlops “Baby’s First Flip Flops”, a company based in Mt. Pleasant SC that produces flip flops and blankets for newborn babies.  Phyllis is the former owner of Lloyd & Sheffer Co ,one of the largest Food Brokerage Companies in the country, and served as Account Executive/Manager and served on several Diversity Advisory Boards for over thirty five years with other companies;  Pepsi Bottling Group The Pillsbury Company and Martha White Foods.  Phyllis is Chair of ECEW Meals on Heels, and serves as Compliance/External Relations Chair for I’On Board of Trustees.  Phyllis enjoys hiking (climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and Base Camp Everest), scuba diving, golf and has a 2nd Degree Black Belt.  She is a widow and has one Son, Jason.

Sarah Hays

Vice President

Sarah Hays, Co-Founder of YuDu, is a South Carolina native with a background in International Business and Spanish. After completing her MBA studies in Mexico, she returned to Charleston in 2006 to serve as the Assistant Director of International Business at the South Carolina World Trade Center.  From there she was recruited to join a local start-up firm and eventually left to launch YuDu Concierge Services in 2009. YuDu is a concierge and errand running service for businesses and busy people.  Sarah speaks frequently to businesses and small groups about the art of prioritization as it relates to time management and productivity. Her main motivation – helping others to get things done!

Kimberly Robertson

Secretary

Robertson Kimberly has spent nearly 20 years in Corporate America in finance and construction. Through her proficient organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and overall professionalism she has helped make it possible for individuals in her prior work environments to meet and exceed their goals and attain great success.  After some reflection, she realized that she could use her talents to help many others and founded Out N About For You.

In addition to her involvement in ECEW, she volunteers with local charities, including Carolina Children’s Charities and the March of Dimes. She sits on the Board of the Charleston Rifle Club Ladies Auxiliary, a local Non-Profit, and has served on many committees and chaired several.

In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her husband, John and their dogs, Mackenzie and Sidney as well as spending time with family and friends.

Betty Jo Sneed

Treasurer

Betty Jo Sneed is currently employed by Harbor National Bank as  Assistant Vice President for their Mt. Pleasant office. It’s here where she is able to continue her passion for helping her customers for fill all their financial needs from opening their first checking account to purchasing their dream home .

Prior to going to Harbor National Bank she was employed as Financial Center Manager for First Federal for over 15 years. Responsible for branch goals in sales, service and growth.

Betty Jo enjoys her free time boating with her husband and family. Her most precious prizes are her “Grandchildren”

Carol Williams

BRAVA Initiative

Carol Williams, owner of Southern Moon Custom Picture Faming, and a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty, grew up in Columbia, SC graduating from University of South Carolina with a degree in Elementary Education and continuing her education with a Master Degree from the Citadel. She and her husband David have made Mt. Pleasant their home for over twenty-seven years.

She and David are parents to two budding entrepreneurs. Daughter, Ali, a pastry chef is owner of Wunderland Cakes and  co-owner of Phylli Phlops.  Their son, Chris, runs A Simple Tree, Artists Wholesale Framing and Courier Services.
